About You

You value learning and growing as an engineer, a leader, and as a contributor to a tight-knit company. You enjoy working with people who always push themselves to do better and you know in your heart that life isn’t always work. You want to take an active role in deciding how we structure our data and the technologies we use to do it. You’re based in Austin or want to move here, you’re a good-natured person with a sense of humor. You have 3+ years of DBA experience and can contribute at a senior level.

Here are some things our team does every day: Manage mysql / Postgres and ElasticSearch databases Monitor, troubleshoot, and diagnose database problems Assist the engineering team with schema design Provide leadership on the topics of data and data management Monitor for slow / troublesome queries and work with the engineering team to optimize them You should apply if you meet these minimum requirements: 3+ years of MySQL and Postgres administration Experience with AWS RDS Experience troubleshooting and optimizing InnoDB Experience with document databases Experience with high-availability, write-heavy MySQL / Postgres configuration You should really seriously apply if you are also good at any of the following: ElasticSearch cluster administration Redis administration Containerization of databases (eg Docker) Experience with other non-relational data stores, eg graph databases RDS cost-saving expertise About OwnLocal Culture

About Our Developer Team Culture

OwnLocal builds applications in Ruby, Golang and Node. We do original research and development in areas such as natural language processing and computer vision , and we are transitioning our tools to a microservice model using containers.

Salary

All positions at OwnLocal are salaried, paid out monthly and include company stock options. This position offers a salary of $114,000+ per year, depending on experience. We do not accept any emails or phone calls about this position.
